Coronavirus testing more than tripled to 18,000 per day in Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal

Days after Delhi government officials met Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss the rising cases of coronavirus in the national capital, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the coronavirus testing has increased more than three times. The coronavirus testing in Delhi has now been increased from 5,000 per day to 18,000 per day, Arvind Kejriwal said.

In his latest address on the prevailing coronavirus situation in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Earlier it was 5,000 per day,” Arvind Kejriwal said, adding, “Now people will not face any issues in getting tested for coronavirus.”

Arvind Kejriwal said that the coronavirus patients, who are under home isolation, will be provided with pulse oximeters to measure their oxygen levels every few hours. “Once you are well, you can return it to the government,” he said.

Referring to the Ladakh face-off between the Indian and the Chinese troops on June 15 and the Chinese city of Wuhan being the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak, Arvind Kejriwal said India is fighting two wars against China — coronavirus and one at the border.

Arvind Kejriwal said while the Indian soldiers are fighting a battle against China at the borders, India would not back down in its fight against coronavirus.

“Our country is fighting two wars against China – one at the border and another against the virus from China. We have to remain united to fight both, none of these should be politicised. Our brave soldiers didn’t back down, even we won’t retreat until we win,” Arvind Kejriwal said.

About the prevailing situation in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal said, “Today there are about 25,000 active cases in Delhi. Out of these, 6,000 are in the hospitals and 12,000 in home isolation. The good news is that only 1,000 cases have increased in a week.”
