Happy Birthday Rohit Sharma: Gautam Gambhir calls Rohit Sharma best white-ball cricketer in the world | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: When Rohit Sharma is on song, he is unstoppable. Thanks to his swashbuckling batting style and ability to send any bowling attack on a leather hunt, the stylish right-hander holds the record of scoring the most double centuries in ODI cricket (3).

On Rohit’s 33rd birthday, former India cricketer Gautam Gambhir called the ‘Hitman’ the best white ball cricketer in the world.

Gambhir, who represented India in 147 ODIs, 58 Tests and 37 T20Is, took to Twitter and wrote: “Happy Birthday to the best white ball cricketer in the world @ImRo45 ! Have a great year ahead!!”.

Rohit, who is ranked at number two in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen, holds the record for the highest individual score in the 50-over format. He smashed a blistering 264 runs off 173 balls against Sri Lanka in 2014 at the Eden Gardens. His mind-boggling knock was studded with 9 sixes and 33 fours.

In the 2019 World Cup (50 overs), Rohit signed off the mega tournament as the highest run-scorer. He scored 648 runs in just 9 matches at an average of 81.00.

During the tournament, he also became the first batsman ever to score five centuries in a single edition of the ICC ODI World Cup, breaking the previous record (4) held by Kumar Sangakkara.
