Questions have once again been raised about the treatment of Covid-19 patients in Delhi. After the death of a national level swimmer, Ashutosh, due to the novel coronavirus, his family members have questioned the treatment in the hospital.

The family of the swimmer alleged that the 26-year-old died due to lack of treatment and negligence in the hospital. National level swimmer Ashutosh died due to Covid-19 at Lady Harding Hospital on 17 June.

Ashutosh’s family members are questioning the hospital administration. They allege that Ashutosh died due to lack of treatment and negligence at Lady Hardinge Hospital.

It is also alleged by the family members that they were mistreated even while giving the body of the deceased.

The family members of deceased swimmer Ashutosh, while making serious allegations against the Lady Hardinge Hospital administration, said that on 10 June his health suddenly worsened after which he was taken to Lady Harding Hospital.

After the initial examination, the doctors told them that they should not block the bed and asked them to quarantine at home. His family then brought him home where treatment was given in the manner prescribed by the doctors.

However, with each passing day there was no significant improvement in Ashutosh’s health. It is alleged that after four days, when the family members went to the hospital to get his report, they came to know that the report of the novel coronavirus examination had been lost.

The family then got their private test done and it was found the swimmer was Covid-19 positive, after which Ashutosh’s condition turned critical.

The swimmer was immediately admitted to Lady Harding Hospital where he died on June 17. The family members allege that he was just kept there and had no facilities and no doctor came to see him.

Ashutosh lived with his family in a rented house in Karol Bagh area and got married in February this year. It is being told that Ashutosh had his birthday on June 19.

The family members say that Ashutosh used to swim for Delhi and also taught children swimming at Shivaji Stadium. Following the death of Ashutosh, the family members are concerned about their livelihood as the swimmer was the only earner in the house.
