Former RJD MP and dreaded gangster Mohammad Shahabuddin who is presently lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail has failed to find a place in the newly formed national executive of the Rashtriya Janata Dal.

The former MP who was a member of the national executive for past several years has been shown the door and instead his wife, Hina Shahab, has been inducted into the RJD’s topmost forum.

According to sources, Shahabuddin has been kept out of the national executive as per the wishes of RJD leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav who is the party’s chiefministerial candidate for the upcoming assembly elections in the state.

Sources close to Tejashwi Yadav claimed he was unhappy with the party’s image being tarnished because of Shahabuddin’s inclusion into the national executive over the past few years due to his criminal antecedents. The dreaded gangster is a close aide of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad.

Another significant inclusion into the national executive is of former Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi who has been appointed as the party’s vice-president, along with senior leaders Shivanand Tiwari and Raghuvansh Prasad Singh. Rabri Devi’s induction as RJD’s vice-president is being seen as Lalu’s attempt to keep the party’s control within the family.

Three other members of the Lalu family-sons Tejashwi Yadav and Tej Pratap Yadav, and daughter Misa Bharti-have also been inducted into the national executive.
